Peter Wood – President | Creative Director
USA Cabernet President and Creative Peter Wood is a graduate of the Royal College of Art in London. And he wasn’t there as an exchange student. That’s right, the creator and founder of USA Cabernet is…wait for it…English! But soon after graduation, Peter moved to the US, where he worked for some of America’s biggest agencies; the Richards Groups, Dallas; Ogilvy and Mather, Houston; R&R, Las Vegas. In 2002, Peter founded the boutique advertising agency, The Hucksters. Over the years, the agency has become known for producing visually arresting, humorous and sometimes mischievous brand advertising. It was here that Peter created the USA Cabernet brand. Drawing on his experience as a designer, painter, printmaker and whip-cracking drummer for the world’s worst punk band, Peter brings a classically trained eye and a prankster’s sensibility to his work. As a California wine enthusiast, Peter wanted to create a brand of his favorite varietal that would appeal to the largest possible audience. USA Cabernet, a wine rumored to be made from red, white and blue grapes, is the result.
Anthony Scotto III – CEO
As a fifth-generation vintner, Anthony Scotto III grew up in the shadow of great winemakers. And while he may have inherited their wisdom, he worked for everything else. Every summer, every holiday, every school break, A3 (as he was soon nicknamed) was working at his grandfather’s winery and learning the family trade. By day, he worked in the vineyards. By night, he absorbed lessons of the family’s history, passion and exacting standards over the dinner table. All of these lessons inspired the formation and nourished the growth of Scotto Cellars. Perhaps not surprisingly, Anthony studied history at San Diego State University. Upon graduation, he began his professional life as a representative with Coors Brewing Company. Though in less than a year, he started the company that would become Scotto Cellars, one of California’s 50 largest wineries. He began in 2001 with a single wine, the classic Villa Armando, an homage to his grandfather. Today, Scotto Cellars makes more than 40 brands at their five wineries in Lodi, Napa and Amador Counties. Working alongside sister Natalie and brothers Paul and Michael, Anthony has ensured that Scotto Cellars remained a family company. Anthony lives in Concord with his wife Alyssa and their three children. Besides following the Giants and Warriors, A3 is also an avid music fan. When he’s not catching live shows, he’s streaming the soundtrack of his youth – Pearl Jam, Led Zeppelin, Metallica – on Apple Music.
Tasha Consiglio – Director of Marketing and PR
Tasha grew up in Guam and graduated from Chaminade University in Hawaii with a degree in Marketing. Prior to joining The Hucksters, she worked for the Houston Press and Bernard Hodes Group. Tasha manages most of The Hucksters’ clients, including USA Cabernet. A social media enthusiast, Tasha’s passions include fashion, travel, food, serial killer documentaries, design and wine – which she is on constant pursuit of via Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest.
Bob Walker – Marketing Manager
One of Bob’s favorite quotes is: “Everyone you meet knows something that you don’t.” And after 41 years in the wine industry, he’s met and learned from people in all areas of the business, including some real industry legends. Bob studied at TCU, where he earned his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in business. He first honed his sales and marketing skills at Procter & Gamble, but after a few years he moved to the wine industry, eventually serving as a Regional Manager for the E&J Gallo Winery. The post of General Manager at Majestic Liquors brought him back to Fort Worth, followed by a move to San Francisco where he served as VP of Sales and Marketing Operations and VP of the Export Division for The Wine Group, the world’s third largest wine company. Since 2004, he’s served as the Marketing Manager for Scotto Cellars. Beyond the business world, his primary interests are golf, trading stock options and traveling with his wife of forty five years, Lili. Bob’s musical playlist is pure, plain-speaking Americana: Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash and Bob Seeger. His most admired politician, Ronald Reagan, is cut from the same cloth.
Bill Chenault – National Sales Manager
National Sales Manager Bill Chenault is a man used to working with big brands and big bands. After graduating from Vanderbilt University (Go Commodores!), Bill began his long and distinguished career. After cutting his teeth with Procter & Gamble, Bill embarked on a 38-year journey managing some of the greatest names in US wine: Gallo, Heublein, Freixenet USA, Don Sebastiani and now, USA Cabernet with Scotto Cellars. But all this time, he’s also been making music. Bill plays sax, clarinet and flute for a 20-piece big band that’s toured extensively and brought the soundtrack of 20th century America to all corners of the States and Europe. The band is also a fixture at Houston’s House of Blues. Bill lives in north east Houston with his wife Elizabeth, where they dote on their three children and five grandchildren. In what passes for his spare time, Bill serves on the Board of Directors of the Lake Houston Musical Arts Society and volunteers with the music and youth programs at Strawbridge Methodist Church.
Geoffrey Dean-Smith – Managing Partner
Geoffrey Dean-Smith is a managing partner at USA Cabernet and can often be found with a glass of wine in one hand and a golf club in the other. Geoffrey is a travel writer currently residing in Brentwood, Los Angeles, but has spent time working for the LA Times and Bangkok Post in Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, Myanmar, Indonesia, Greece, and England. Geoffrey grew up in the north of England and studied English and history at King Edward VI College before setting off on travels that have included time in Jamaica, Nassau, Bermuda, Curacao and Spain. Of all the places he’s visited, he has never come across better wines than those in California, which is probably why he lives there now.
Vicky Yao – Art Director
Art Director Vicky Yao is a 2006 graduate of LA’s prestigious Art Institute of California. Deciding to start at the top, Vicky worked for Saatchi & Saatchi, Taiwan, where she helped launch the Toyota Prius brand in both print and TV. An award-winning designer and illustrator, Vicky has an unequaled air for vivid, elegant and eye-popping design (and the youth to understand all the digital stuff that makes our heads spin). Vicky handles most of the design, print and production for The Hucksters, including the work for USA Cabernet. Surprising in one respect, as she’s never taken a sip of wine in her life.
Allen Weaver – Senior Designer
Allen is senior designer at USA Cabernet. A graduate of East Texas State University, with a degree in graphic design, Allen has honed his Paul Rand influenced design manifesto to a fine point. Allen has designed exceptional work for American IronHorse Motorcycles, Internet America, Acme Brick, Overhead Door, Husqvarna Power Equipment and Disney during time at two of Dallas’ best design firms: Joiner Rowland Serio and MMB Strategy, where he is currently design director. Growing up in Arkansas and mountain biking the re-roads of the Ouachitas, Allen knows great BBQ. And he enjoys a glass (make that a bottle) of USA Cabernet with a tangy, dry rubbed, plate of beef ribs.
